Most of us like to think we make rational buying decisions. We compare prices, read reviews, look at specifications and weigh up the pros and cons.
The reality however, is usually a little different.
More often than not, emotion makes the first decision and logic simply helps us feel comfortable with it afterwards.
Think about the last major purchase you made
Whether it was a car, a house or even choosing a solicitor, there were probably several good options.
Why did you choose one over another?
Perhaps they felt more trustworthy or maybe they seemed easier to work with….Perhaps they simply understood your situation better.
Those are all emotional responses.

Every business creates a feeling
Some brands feel friendly and approachable.
Others feel premium, quality.
Some inspire confidence.
Others create excitement.
That feeling is shaped by the branding. It's influenced by photography, colours, typography, language, customer service and every interaction someone has with your business.
Emotion reduces perceived risk
Buying always involves uncertainty.
Customers ask themselves questions such as:
Can I trust this company?
Will they do what they promise?
Am I making the right decision?
Good branding and clear communication help answer those questions before they're even asked.
Logic still matters
Facts, figures and technical information of course remain important.
People still want evidence, whether through testimonials, case studies or specifications.
These elements tend to reinforce a decision that's already moving in the right direction.
Remember…
People buy because of how a business makes them feel.
The strongest brands understand that emotional connection isn't something separate from marketing. It's the foundation that makes every other part of the customer journey more effective.
